I made another four sets of textures based on University colours. These have more unusual combinations, I hope you like them. Hoping to produce more later, now that I have figured out how PSP9 is working on my laptop and now that I finally seem to be getting some of my artistic muse back.

I finally have Paint Shop Pro 9 back and working! Makes creating icons and textures so much easier. These are some I've made recently, hope you like. I think I picked Pennsylvania and CIT because some astronaut or other went there, and then I needed two more to make a four - so I went with Harvard and Yale because I've been having a Frasier-fest recently.

I had planned on making more than 18 icons, but I'm not sure when or if that will happen, so I thought I'd upload now, especially as I've been using one of these for a few days now.

I'm back to making school colours texture sets again. Didn't go quite as planned, but I think it's worked out OK. What happened was that I had the brush set at 40% opacity for ages without realising it, I just thought that's the way the brushes I was using were. But I think it makes for some interesting and slightly different results to what I would usually expect. And I didn't mean for the first set to look so festive colour-wise, it just turned out that way :)

I downloaded a huge number (thousands?) of new Photoshop brushes a couple of weeks ago, and I made another black and white base from them. Much the same style as before, some geometric shapes, hearts, stars, glitter, paint splashes, plants, art nouveau tendrils and curls. As well as the original black and white pic I made versions with some freebie filters I've had for ages, I'm not sure if they're nice or "interesting" but please see for yourself.

Have taken a bit of a break from graphics stuff to play about with Google Earth, tremendous fun, particularly Street View. Have returned to my graphics programs to find that Elements is still tempremental when it comes to adding text, thankfully IrfanView can help me out there, but I'm experimenting with a different layout for preview pictures, one that's easier to get right without Gimp. And I think Gimp is done for, at least in its current version. Starting it up yesterday caused everything to grind to a halt which was remedied only by the laptop's power switch. I will not be venturing back.
This is a set of four associated with Hong Kong universities, also in my mind they will be associated with The Jungle Book, because my new DVD of The Jungle Book was playing in the background while I was creating the bases for these sets. I hope you like them.

Looking to do something a bit different but still using Photoshop brushes, I started with a black & white base graphic. Something simple, I thought. It yielded a good set of textures. Going back to the base graphic, I applied some filters from Virtual Painter 5 - and went with the airbrush filter and colour pencil filter for another two sets of textures. Finally I went back to the original graphic and applied a channel shift filter, which gives multicolours - the basic computer colours - shifted about the place. I've always liked playing with colour channels.
On to the goodies. Hope you like! If you download all four sets you'll see there are a few which are basically the same in all four guises, while others only really stand out in one or two versions.

Trying to think of another theme for another collection, and a way of covering more UK institutions, I decided on Cambridge University. Each of the individual colleges has its own colours, in addition to the Light Blue of Cambridge itself. So, here is a set of Cambridge Light Blue textures, plus three other colleges: Robinson, Selwyn, and Queen's.
GIMP is refusing to work again. It starts up now, and lets you begin a new file, but doesn't let you do anything with it before crashing. This is why the preview pics don't have borders (I tried adding one in Photobucket to the Cambridge preview pic, not sure if it's worked properly so I'll leave the others alone). I now have only Photoshop Elements to work from, so some brushes work and not others, and I'm not sure which ones I can still use. Elements came pre-loaded with the laptop rather than by my selection, and it can be tempremental too. Grr.
Anyway, on to the textures:

Another set of four school colours, this time including a set from the University of Warwick, my old university. I still have my scarf, which was thanks to a particularly fierce winter in my final year. Also included is Loughborough University (where I dropped out from), Dominican University - who have such a lovely shade of blue which suits old-fashioned graphics so well, and Valparaiso University, which.... reminds me of an old favourite summer skirt I can no longer get into. You win some, you lose some.
