    I love this answer. It is particularly useful when targeting older x86 platforms which is a small fad as of late where the optimizing compilers aren't as terribly involved as modern ones. Thanks for this Henrik! Commented Feb 25, 2019 at 4:26

    @user16217248-OnStrike because you don't necessarily compile on the same machine on which you run. Perhaps the runtime machine has a tastier pi. Commented Jul 7, 2023 at 9:16
