I appreciate this answer, but yes it has to be AngularJS as there are other factors in which it is useful for my app. Thanks anyway :)

create code fences with backticks ` or tildes ~

like so

put returns between paragraphs
for linebreak add 2 spaces at end

backtick escapes `like _so_`
quote by placing > at start of line
