I have a file with an armature and many created poses in the file. Previously I could select the armature, right-click the pose asset, choose Apply Pose and have it work.

Something changed, and now when I apply the pose a few bones are affected…and which ones those are sometimes changes. (When I was first experiencing this, the upper body and arms would move slightly. Then I created a copy of the file and deleted everything but the figure I'm having trouble with, and now applying the same pose causes a single knee to bend.)

I'm new to armatures and saved poses, so there's a chance I'm doing something wrong.

applying different poses affects only one knee

If I open the Outliner and expand the armature I can see that a single bone is ~selected. Changing which bone(s) are selected changes which bone(s) are affected when applying the pose. Apparently this is leftover from whatever bone(s) were selected when I was last in Pose Mode before I left it.

armature hierarchy for humanoid with r_shin selected

To fix:

Enter Pose Mode for the armature, select all bones (a), and then leave Pose Mode.

Now applying a pose affects all bones in the armature.
