So Riddick was fun although I thought it was derivative. Even the monsters on the planet he was stranded on looked like the monsters in Pitch Black and the adorable dingo dogs looks like the lizard guard dogs on the prison planet. The playful pup was adorable though. Even Riddick's chemistry with Dahl (blonde) echoed Fry (also blonde). The main merc was Johns' dad. O.O I'm surprised there wasn't an adorable kid. But any Riddick is better than no Riddick and I did enjoy it.

What I really, really want is Riddick to destroy the necromongers. Next movie, maybe?

I didn't get to watch the Fast & Furious 6 movie because apparently when they say Blu-Ray & DVD what they really mean is, yeah, it won't play for you but, hey, you can download the DVD version if you don't have the super new tech, you oldster, you. Not really wanting to download at the library so I'll have to wait until I visit my bro. But I did do a rewatch of Fast Five and watched them fling a huge bank vault around and destroy half of Rio. That was a blast! Also, Rio is a lovely city that I would like to visit someday.

There was a DVD sale at work and I picked up Fast and Furious 6 and Riddick, both of which I have not seen before. I'll be having a Vin Diesel marathon today! I've written a couple one shots in both fandoms so I consider them active fandoms as opposed to lurking.

My other DVD choice (and I'll admit it was hard to pass up) was a couple seasons of Columbo. I loved that show so much and used to run to the TV when it was scheduled. Columbo used to alternate with McCloud (the cowboy cop) and MacMillan & Wife (with Rock Hudson). They were all fun but I liked Columbo the best.

Speaking of active, I've been getting bunches of kudos for my teeny little John/Terminator ficlet. Over the past couple of months it's jumped from like 9 to 101. I wondered if someone had recced it but couldn't find it when I googled. Finally, it clicked. There's a new movie coming out and people are searching for fic. *g* I know everyone probably already knew that but when I go to the library I don't waste time on anything but downloading as much fic for offline reading as I can. Actual news kind of passes me by these days.

So my initial spurt of writing slowed way down over the weekend but I've managed to write another little story for mmom bringing my current total up to 4-3/4 stories. Yay?

Actually my personal goal was six. I thought that was doable. I am sooo close I can taste it and I have over a month to write it before the fest closes.

So this latest one is called Harry Potter and the Dead Useful Wank. I wanted to call it Harry Potter and the Magic Trouser Snake (which is funnier) but it doesn't capture the theme as well. *sulk*

It's like, aside from The Sentinel, I have one wank story per fandom in me. Somehow this amuses me.

In other news, my birthday was over the weekend and I got a Barnes & Noble card with strict instructions to go to an actual store rather than buy over the Internet. I have done so and now have the latest in the three series I still follow: Bujold's Cryoburn, Cherryh's Intruder and the latest Jack Reacher paperback. I'm excited to see what all my boos have been up to.

I ran across this vid yesterday and thought it was impressive. I have no idea what this kind of event is called but it's a guy steering a motorcycle through a narrow, intricate maze of traffic cones without knocking any of them over and being timed at it. The amount of skilled control amazes me. I thought some of you might find it fun to watch too.

When I previewed this post and clicked on the link to make sure it worked I ended up watching it again. This time it reminded me of a real life pacman video game. *g*

Yes! I have broken the writing barrier! *flings arms up and dances around the room triumphantly*

I was terrified that I was going to be all talk, no fic once again. It was a legitimate concern since I brainstormed a bunch of bunnies and then thought about them a lot without actually writing them. But now I have written. Ha!

Today, I have written 2,195 words for mmom, which is 2-3/4 fics full of wank. Two of them are TS WIPs where I'd written the opening paragraphs and come to a screeching halt many, many years ago. One of them is an Insatiable interlude where Jim plays with champagne and the other is Jim's first time after the senses come on-line. The third one is for the movie Harvey which makes me giggle with glee (I think it's both charming and a little creepy - depending on whether you think Harvey is real or not).

I checked and the last thing I wrote was back in December, 2011. That is a 2-1/2 year drought, folks.

ETA: I just dashed off a 599 word ficlet of Hulk masturbating with Iron Man watching. I knew I wasn't going to manage all 31 days but I was hoping I'd manage a half dozen at least. Now I am 2/3 of the way there. \o/

If you're at all interested in Once A Thief and like looong, angsty, H/C with Mac Ramsey as the whumpee you should give Family by Shadowscast a try. I just finished it and it was a great read. Trigger warning for sadistic character and dubious consent.

I owe some responses to people that I will get to later today. I have to focus on job search stuff right now. :-( Also, I want to join in the reccing at sentinel_thurs but that will have to wait until the weekend.
