chat.meta was the public beta, so it follows that we have all dregs and urchins etc in here ;p
Actually, I'm really positive about how SF are using theirs now that it is available to all SF users. Lots of rooms on server/product themes
The thing with meta.chat is that it is still the beta, just communicated on things like the SO blog. Mainly the insanely addicted SO folks. When we have a broader spectrum of users I expect that some rooms will granulate along similar lines.
@MichaelMrozek, well conversations sometimes drift - I've seen stuff from here transferred over to chat feedback (and vice-versa), and sometimes across to sandbox.
But to me, it seems that subject-specific discussions have difficulty getting off the ground. But then I'm probably not in the right time-zone for seeing high activity...
we are developing an anti-virus, I'm trying to find out how can we tell the operating system -windows XP in this case- that our software is an anti-virus. I want that the OS recognize our software as an anti-virus and the security center list it.
Hmm, I rediscovered Boo last night, for some reason it's made me more excited about it than when I remember last looking at it. And despite the existence of Specter I think I might try creating an RSpec-esque BDD framework with it, to try and learn it :)
anyone program against the sharepoint api? If I have a asp.net site that wants to access some sharepoint lists, do I have to develop that site on the sharepoint server?
I'm suggesting to block or to display a warning if an answer or question is mostly consisting of uppercase characters. Something along the lines of "It seems like your Shift-Key is stuck, you might wanna correct your post".
I often feel a question needs to be closed because it's too broad to be answered, and it would need many more details to winnow it down to being possible to answer. Like here, I voted to close this, but chose "Not a real question" which isn't really the best reason, none of the choices fit. How...
@Michael Mrozek @MichaelMrozek The problem is that it is a real question, it's just way too broad to answer. I think it would help the OPs if they saw a close reason like that, so that they would learn to make better questions.
Screenshots About There have been several requests on MSO for a way to get a combined flair similar to what is shown on Area51. I took a "I want it, I'll make it" approach. Thus became StackFlair. StackFlair generates a combined flair representing all of your associated StackExchange acc...
@rchern You should have an image version so it can be embedded in posts. I hacked up an image-thing for my own purposes, but it's terrible and specific to my account; a generic one would be neat
...I would paste it here, but the chat appears to destroy my message immediately
@MichaelMrozek, yeah, I mention that in the post. I'd like to offer that, I've just never worked with generating images like this. I haven't found the magical String.ConvertHtmlToImage function yet. :P
@badp @badp I replaced the Gnome Menu with the small version (just an icon), trimmed date and seconds from the clock, and as removed the Empathy integration menu (you don't seem to be using that, either) and the Shutdown menu (I don't shutdown the system that often, and then it's in the Gnome menu->System->Shut down)
Oh, and when I pull my wifi cable out of my esata port halfway through generating the flair and at the same time dance the Ententanz, I get a weird error message from Farmville. Please fix that.
@rchern @rchern And, is this specifically for Stack apps?
@rchern @rchern Yeah, like, is this one issue tracker for StackFlair, or 100 issue trackers for all the work you're doing for your business?
In other words, if Trac would work for you I could possibly host a Trac instance or two. But if you need dedicated hosting for your business, I couldn't really host you as my company doesn't have SLAs for Trac hosting
But I'm happy to host a Trac repo for anything Stack-y, like XMPP integration or StackFlair
In the past I have really enjoyed using Trac with subversion repositories hosted on some of my own servers. The integrated ticketing and online code browsing is very convenient. I have used github for some of my public projects but I don't have the money to shell out for an extra service, espci...
If you'd like me to give you a Trac environment to play with just let me know @rchern -- I'd be happy to. I live Trac personally but it's hardly the only solution out there :-)
right, Sharepoint wouldn't be included in technet.. sorry, i wasn't trying to be on-topic. Technet is non-commercial evaluation licenses, but they don't expire.
@rchern @rchern All you have to do is joke about it being related to unicorns or maple syrup somehow, and it'll be the most popular thing since... well, since chat.
