  • SQL Server does all row size limit calculations on CREATE/ALTER TABLE. So if you can create your table without error or warning, you'll be ok. As the article you linked to points out, there are some performance impacts to this--so make sure you test that, too. Commented Aug 28, 2017 at 11:02
