It's fairly new - Emacs 24, I think. I don't have more than one monitor, so I haven't used it, but I use it in some of my code (with the help/suggestions of users).

create code fences with backticks ` or tildes ~

for linebreak add 2 spaces at end

quote by placing > at start of line
