That is why I am saying that you do not save as PNG, you export as PNG. Adobe uses words very irresponsibly.

Sorry, maybe I read it weird. I know you know your stuff. Wasn't questioning your knowledge at all, perhaps more how it was phrased. Since it is possible to BOTH save AND export as PNG - neither of which retain layers.
