The LibreOffice version 25.8 was recently released. As it is written in the LibreOffice documentation, it supports export to PDF 2.0 format, which can be a multi-layered file. My LibreOffice Draw .odg file contains layers, which I need to export to a multi-layered PDF file. But every time when I export it, the output PDF file doesn't contain layers. I have ensured that the PDF version 2.0 was chosen in my export settings: enter image description here Why does it happen this way? What should I do to retains my LibreOffice layers in the output PDF file when exporting?
My operation system is Windows 11

AFAIK, I don't think this is possible to do directly from LibreOfice Draw. At least I could find no such option or any mention of it in the documentation.

Several PDF versions support layered files, so just because PDF 2 supports it doesn't necessarily mean that LibreOffice Draw will support export of layered PDFs. It only seems to support layered ODG files (i.e. its own native format).

Anyway, there is a workaround. It's possible to open a layered ODG file in Scribus 1.6.4 and export a layered PDF.

In Scribus when you open a layered ODG, you can rename or delete any unnecessary layers, and then export as PDF 1.5/1.6. Make sure you enable the "Include Layers" option. This definitely works. I tested it.

  • Unfortunately, you are right. LibreOffice doesn't support the export to a multi-layered pdf file. The only way is to use another software - Scribus, as you wrote. Commented Sep 14 at 15:33
