I've traveled a fair amount and grew up overseas: Sweden, England, Hong Kong. Homes in the US have been in California, New York, Minnesota, and Massachusetts. As of this writing, I've moved back to California.
My household is managed by Emma, a toy poodle rescue. She is the time keeper and alerts me when it is time to eat, sleep, go out, play, cuddle, bark at bicyclists. She doesn't seem reconciled to the need to get work done, but we compromise. Cici joined us as a puppy in 2004. Reluctantly, Emma adapts. Cheerfully, Cici ignores the tension between them. Fortunately Cici is younger, smaller, dumber and sweeter than Em, so her occasional challenges for dominance are rendered moot.
Rather to my surprise I've become self-employed over the last few years, doing fundraising research work for non-profits. Love the work, love the flexibility, love working at home, discomfited by the lack of benefits.
I've a weakness for redheads, particularly my crimson-coiffed god-daughter.
