$\begingroup$ Here are a few tips: Are you sure the system can be solved with the parameters you want; try to check with another software if possible. Before implementing a non-linear solver try to solve some simple problems first to see that the discretization works. Once that works try to solve some non-linear problem for which you have the solution. Perhaps "Advanced Topics in Finite Element Analysis of Structures: With Mathematica and MATLAB; Bhatti" is helpful. $\endgroup$
