    In my last job, we called it "gold-plating," as in "Quit gold-plating that thing, and just finish it!" In all seriousness, though, to create a good product, you do need to spend some time planning it; see programmers.stackexchange.com/questions/97985/… Commented Aug 10, 2011 at 21:18

    @Tyler Just because the product isn't going to be commercial doesn't mean that there isn't a deadline dependent on that product being complete and operational (or close to it). Commented Aug 11, 2011 at 3:59
