The 'hype' comes mostly from the 'business types' who are salivating at the thought of ditching their internal IT infrastructure in favor of a hosted solution that is both more robust and easier to quantify. For them, IT in its current state is a big black box that costs too much and unnecessarily inflates the 'fixed asset' line on their balance sheets.
