    LINQ processing is deferred until you actually iterate over it. var foo = bar.Distinct() is essentially an IEnumerator<T> until you call .ToList() or .ToArray(). That is an important distinction because if you aren't aware of that it can lead to difficult to understand bugs. Commented Feb 13, 2018 at 21:18
