I once had a piece of code that had a bug. I had spent three days looking for the bug when my test fizzled and i succeded in deleting the code, no backups. I rewrote the entire codebase from memory in a all nighter an all my bugs were gone. About 3000 line codebase. So sometimes its worh it. But in production this never happens.
