Thanks for you feedback. Good points. The question I really want answered (I just added yet another update to clarify) is the appropriate way to test functions that do nothing more than call a sequence of other services through delegation. In such cases, it seems the unit tests appropriate to "document the contract" are just a restatement of the function implementation, asserting that methods are called on various mocks. Yet the test being identical to the implementation in those cases feels wrong....
