- 1Steps 1-6 are normal. I suspect your problem is the inability of the Pi to power your (unspecified) SSD. Why would you WANT to use a SSD for a Lite install?Milliways– Milliways2023-05-28 00:01:32 +00:00Commented May 28, 2023 at 0:01
- What happens if you try using an sd card to boot?Jaromanda X– Jaromanda X2023-05-28 01:20:59 +00:00Commented May 28, 2023 at 1:20
- I use an SSD to run Docker on which I plan to run Home Assistant and some other services. I don't really like using SD cards as boot drives because I expect a lot of random writes and that makes SD cards die quick. I'll check if I can boot from another device though thanksMartijn– Martijn2023-05-28 07:00:48 +00:00Commented May 28, 2023 at 7:00
- How many SD Cards have you seen fail? This is a Pi urban myth. I have cards > 10 years old and Pi that have been running for > 4 years.Milliways– Milliways2023-05-29 07:15:32 +00:00Commented May 29, 2023 at 7:15

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. pi-3), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
