I started writing this March of last year, before WtNV got all nostalgic about hometowns. I still regret nothing.

Title: Where You End Up
Author: clarityhiding
Fandom(s): Fringe, Welcome to Night Vale
Word Count: 1,600
Summary: The old home was not an easy place to visit, for many reasons. (It wasn't an easy place to leave.)
Disclaimer: (That's still a thing we do, right? Right?) Not mine! Fringe belongs to WB, Welcome to Night Vale to Commonplace Books. Un-beta'd, because I am out of touch with everyone, whoops. If you see any errors, let me know? Thanks.

In truth, Astrid never gave the topic much thought.Collapse )

That creepy moment when you've spent the day marathoning a TV series on Netflix while reading old bandom stuff and then, at a quarter after midnight, you can't tell if you're seeing things or if Pete Wentz has actually hopped browsers and into the episode you're currently watching, appearing out of the shadows like some disturbing shadow thing with emo hair.

It's like Jaws, only bandom. (Except not.)

Also, posted the sequel to the Avengers fic the other day, but I guess it's just long enough not to crosspost from Dw, sooooo you should go over here if you want to read it! :D )

Title: Accounting Assemble
Author: clarityhiding
Pairing: Gen
Rating: PG
Word Count: 4880
Summary: Cash Colligan, Certified Public Accountant of SHIELD, at your service.
Disclaimer: Still making up stuff, still fiction—the only things that are real are the names. Avengers, Thor, etc., are property of Marvel and, along with the Death Star, the Mouse.

Thanks to belle_bing for encouragement, betaing, and name. Additional note: I'm posting this while on vacation, so if something comes up wonky, I might not be able to fix it for a few days, sorry.

It's possible that between last night and today, I've written 2,100+ words of ridiculous bandom/Avengers fusionfic about the failiest SHIELD agent who ever failed. (And he fails. Quite a lot.)

(Surprisingly not a Ryan-centric story.)

It's just. I've been mainlining a whole bunch of Avengers fic lately, okay, and trying to work on my superheroes story (which is totally unrelated to Avengers in that I sort of started on it after seeing Kick-Ass, so yes, yes, it is very old) and suddenly there were ridiculous agents and a a list of increasingly more and more over-the-top scenarios and, let's be honest here, no one is ever going to read the dang thing but. Uh. I'm hoping to finish that up the next 24 hours or so?

In other news, am thinking of declaring WIP amnesty on some of my old unfinished stuff and posting what I have (mainly the DID!Ryan fic but maybe some other stuff too?? Need to clean out my GoogleDocs). So, yeah. There's that.

Title: Don't You Want to Believe
Author: clarityhiding
Pairing: N/A—Gen!
Rating: PG
Word Count: 8,000
Summary: "Mikey was right," Ray says in a rush. "The furniture is out to get him."
Disclaimer: All the product of my warped little brain! That is to say, entirely made up, these guys don't really have superpowers.
Notes: Thanks to B for indulging my need for superheroes a couple years back. This isn't the fic that's directly a product of that, but close enough. And thanks to [personal profile] verbosewordsmith for putting up with my babbling and betaing this bit of ridiculousness.

Apologies for my bad Spanish. It's been a few years since I last used it regularly. Additionally, I must 'fess up to having traced some to make sure I got the art style correct for the image found in the story.

...soooo it's possible I just finished writing something for the first time in nearly two years. I am now going to have to hunt up some old faces and make eyes at them for betaing. And draw some stuff. (Oh darn.)

It's possible that this fic is actually a side story to a 19,300+ (and counting!) word story I've been plugging away at for the past two years (that I swear I'm going to finish because I have put a lot of effort into world-building, dang it, and I am going to finish that sucker and be done with it! Just as soon as I get over my issue with writing fight scenes, I mean.)

I dunno, guys. I just got back a couple days ago from spending three weeks visiting B, and now I'm reading all this old fic, and listening to new stuff for the first time in ages, and, just. I am feeling so nostalgic for a few years ago and sort of wanting to get back in the swing of fandom and Lj/Dw again (though I hear all the cool kids these days are on that newfangled "tumblr" thing?) but I am so behind, what with effectively dropping off the face of fandom/Lj back in 2011 because of silly things like "finals" and "schoolwork" that I'm a little afraid. And I'm possibly totally in denial about the fact that bandom has had a mass exodus and most everyone has moved on and guys.

Guys.

I don't know if I'm ready for that yet. No, really. I was talking about this with B a whole lot on the way to and from and to the airport (it's complicated, whatever), and bandom was, pretty much, my ideal fandom after I (mostly) got over the RPF hang-up thing. I am spoiled for all other fandoms now. I don't know what to do with myself. It's sort of really tragic, because where else am I going to find a fandom with such a wide variety of AU fic? Ridiculous people to fondly sigh and shake my head over? A canon that isn't vast and sweeping and convoluted (comics fandom, I am looking at you) and doesn't require me to watch a bunch of stuff to catch up? (I have a thing with watching stuff. Namely that I don't like watching stuff on my computer because it takes up most of my screen, and I want to use my computer while watching anything.) And, most importantly, awesome people to interact with? I don't think it's going to happen, guys. I am just too spoiled, and now I feel like the only thing for me is to go back to my old fandom ways of lurking and writing things for dead fandoms.

I mean, or I'll get sucked into Homestuck fandom, but honestly? Those guys scare me a little. o.o

First, I'd like to direct everyone's attention over to this post, over here, where reena_jenkins posted the COMPLETELY AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!! podfic she made of my fic, The Gods of Brendon Urie, that I keep forgetting to link everyone ever to because it is just that amazing and I am still all flaily over!

Secondly, you're probably aware of it (I know I've been getting emails for the past week about it), but InsaneJournal's going through and cleaning out inactive accounts. So if you have an IJ that you haven't updated in a while but would like to keep around (most of mine have been old RP accounts, for example), it's a good idea to sign into it and go to this page and make sure the status of your account is set to "Active". (Though, I gotta say, I thought I had fixed that for an old mod account, and now it seems to be deleted again, but maybe one of the other mods decided it's not worth keeping around, since the game is dead anyway.) You get 14 days from the time it's marked deleted to save your account, so if you're at all worried about any of your accounts, it might be a good idea to get crackin' on that.

Finally, speaking of accounts deactivating, if anyone uses or has used Meebo messenger in the past, starting July 11th, it will be shutting down. However, what they are offering for the first time ever (that I know of) is a way to download all of your chatlogs. Now, I can't tell you how well this back-up works, because I'm on my work computer and apparently Windows is blocking my access to that file, or something and won't let me open the Zip. I don't know what this bodes, I'll check later when I get home. Edit: Checking the zip at home, it looks solid and legit, so, if you've been aching to download your Meebo logs without resorting to complicated scripts or tedious copying and pasting, now you can.

Anyway, that's what's up in the world currently. Personally, I would love to have time to devote to fic and such... and maybe that will happen now that I'm done with school? Again? All I know is that last time I finished college, I was crazy-prolific with fic for the next four months or so (coughTSHcough), and I do have two lengthy fics I'd like to finish before I definitely give up the ghost and move onto a new fandom, sooooo... Yep. Hopefully job-hunting won't leave me too down in the dumps to do that. :D

GUYS. GUYS.

Okay, so ignore the fact that I've been AWOL for a while now (I'm writing stuff! Off and on, sure, but it's happening, I swear!) because you have to see this.

zinnamoon drew totally amazing art for my and belle_bing's ridiculous cat boy fic 100% Genuine.

Adorable cat boy Spencer is adorable!

Jon isn't sure why the hell he resisted for so long (NSFW)

GO! NOW! TELL HER HOW AMAZING SHE IS! (Omg, B and I cannot stop flailing over Spencer and how we want to cuddle and love him and awwwwwwww.)

B was telling me about how she was showing off some of these at fangirl hangs down under last night, which reminded me that I have art to post. Of course, upon uploading art I discovered that, actually, I've been remiss in posting and have a lot of art to post. Since, apparently, I've been uploading things to Lj scrapbook and then forgetting to post them. (Well, I mean. Some of them I've just been "forgetting" to post, because I want to finish the story that goes with them first, but that's a whole different kettle of fish.)

Anyway, yes.

First, remember this AU? Well, as it turned out, this never happened. Instead, it went something like this...Collapse )

Because apparently it isn't enough to just have Ryan knock up genderswap Brendon and make an honest woman out of her, B and have another 'verse in which Ryan is a single dad. Who somehow ends up in a relationship with his coworkers who are very much involved with each other.Collapse )

I could've sworn I posted this months ago, but apparently I never got further than drawing, coloring, scanning, and uploading it to scrapbook. I assume. Because it already had a description when I tried to upload it again just now. I didn't know scrapbook could do that! (Particularly since it renames all the files when you upload them anyway.) Anyway, this is from the same random universe/place as this. Edit 1/13/2013: Aaaaand, going back through this journal, I see that I actually had already posted this piece of art over here! OOPS.

Finally (FINALLY!), here's the picture that I originally started out this post intending to post, before I found all the other stuff that's been sitting around, waiting in the wings. Not too long ago, I posted a drawing that served to indulge my ridiculous fascination with Nate/Cash (and to inform you that I am not, in fact, dead). That image actually does a very good job of misleading you into thinking that the AU it is from doesn't in fact revolve around something entirely different that indulges B's similarly ridiculous (but admittedly more mainstream) OTP.Collapse )

So, yeah. A lot of art. Now I'm going to be a little tacky and quietly remind people that I take commissions, because my paid time for Dw ran out a month or so back and I like being able to crosspost to IJ also for backup purposes. :)
