- I am in a similar predicament, and I have been doing what you did, only in situations whereI had to change or improve functionality. I think I will start doing the 1-2 hours per day to restructure the code. I am lucky that there is not much, so I could possibly finish it all in 2 months.Awemo– Awemo2012-09-03 10:36:02 +00:00Commented Sep 3, 2012 at 10:36
- 2I think there's more people out there going through similar situations that one might think. At any rate, I salute your desire to properly organize the dev environment first, this is always a good thing to do.Shivan Dragon– Shivan Dragon2012-09-03 10:42:07 +00:00Commented Sep 3, 2012 at 10:42
- 1Given the state of things here, I don't think I can depend on any management support at all, so the choice I think boils down to standing on the deck and playing on as the ship sinks or making a run for the lifeboats. Whilst I don't want to screw other peoples' lives up I've decided to put number one first and make a run for the boats. Thanks for the adviceGordonM– GordonM2012-09-03 12:32:42 +00:00Commented Sep 3, 2012 at 12:32

- @WernerCD I'm happy to see that you never had to deal with stuff like the OP's describing.Shivan Dragon– Shivan Dragon2012-09-03 18:43:39 +00:00Commented Sep 3, 2012 at 18:43

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. design-patterns), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
