    @Euphoric: I'm looking for objective observations and realities based on real-world experience. Sorry I didn't make that clear. However, I don't need hard numbers; I will accept general impressions such as: "while our development time did increase substantially, our maintenance costs decreased because the software was more reliable and the customer understood the software better because they took part in the design throughout the development effort."     @Aaronaught: It's been awhile, but I believe that I changed the question because of this comment; practicing TDD in isolation, divorced from customer requirements and some sort of stakeholder feedback cycle, doesn't make much sense to me. Note that the very first sentence of my question body starts with the phrase "overall impact of resource planning on a software project." Commented Sep 7, 2013 at 18:59
