This: (1) breaks on large or infinite streams; (2) is slow because the underlying array is rebuilt repeatedly ($c' := c + (c >> 1)$); (3) produces a raw List; (4) would disrupt an otherwise highly readable fluent style; and (5) doesn't answer the question and sounds dismissive (not that that was the intent, but "gods sake" isn't helpful).
