Running last reboot showed me that I had a new kernel version every time after the sudden reboot. This led me to look at Unattended-Upgrade in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/50unattended-upgrades and /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/99custom-unattended-upgrades.
