- It does not appear to get above 45C, however. I wonder if thermald is throttling?ColdParachute– ColdParachute2021-02-03 13:51:35 +00:00Commented Feb 3, 2021 at 13:51
- Update: lm-sensors does not detect any fans. When I stress the cpu the core voltage goes from ~1.2V to ~0.6V and I do not physically observe any change in fan speed. I am thinking the kernel is unable to modulate the laptop cooling fan and perhaps this is where the throttling is coming from?ColdParachute– ColdParachute2021-02-03 14:52:15 +00:00Commented Feb 3, 2021 at 14:52
- Cross posted as Intel CPU CONSTANTLY Throttled to Lowest Frequency - Ubuntu 20.04 on superuser. Usually you should pick one site to post on; probably you should delete this one.Peter Cordes– Peter Cordes2021-02-03 18:57:06 +00:00Commented Feb 3, 2021 at 18:57

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. shell-script), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
