Can you show us the contents of /var/log/Xorg.0.log? Also see X -configure doesn't work, [Number of created screens does not match number of detected devices], could this be a driver issue? What graphics card do you have? Commented Apr 29, 2024 at 10:58
  • Thank you, i read this link unix.stackexchange.com/q/505088 I t doesn't seem relevant. Included Xorg.0.log into the question. Commented Apr 29, 2024 at 17:54
  • Yeah, not sure. You get (EE) [drm] Failed to open DRM device for pci:0000:01:00.0: -19 while the other post was Unknown chipset: NV118, but one way or the other, this does seem like a driver issue. All the hits I find for your error message are about using the right driver. Commented Apr 29, 2024 at 17:58
  • oh i see. So what can i try ? Maybe reinstall something? Commented Apr 29, 2024 at 18:01
  • I would try reinstalling nouveau. Sorry, haven't used a Debian based system in years so I am not sure how. Maybe apt reinstall xserver-xorg-video-nvidia? Commented Apr 29, 2024 at 18:02
