    My GNU xargs doesn't have -J. That seems to be a MacOS (BSD) option that's not present in the GNU version. Commented Nov 2, 2018 at 21:34
  • POSIX has just standardized xargs' -o option, meaning that reopening /dev/tty is now also possible on Linux with GNU xargs! Commented Aug 6, 2024 at 21:11
