July 24, 2012- Updated CPRM for eBook Addendum and CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card Book, SD-SD eBook Part

The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that the updated CPRM for eBook Addendum and the CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card Book, SD-SD eBook Part, Revision 0.92 are now available. The Compliance Rules for CPRM for SD-SD eBook specified in the CPRM for eBook Addendum has incorporated a clarification to treatment of supplementary video stream. The new specification has some additional encryption mode including AES-CBC for a single block or for each 2KB.

December 15, 2011 - Modifications to Enable CPRM Handling of Analog Sunset Content

4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce changes to our Specifications to establish an “Analog Sunset Token” field to identify video content for which an upstream content protection regime (such as AACS) has established a requirement that no analog video output is permitted for content flowing through licensed products made after December 31, 2013. Note that this AST field is not available for use in the CPRM for the Video Recording Format specified in the CPRM Specification DVD Book (“CPRM for DVD-VR”). To implement the AST capability, we are also announcing changes to our Compliance Rules (a) to require all Participating Video Recorders to set the AST field for video content received from AACS and other content protection regimes that require its use and (b) to require all Participating Video Players to honor the assertion of the AST by not permitting content for which the AST field has been set to be output using any analog video outputs. These new requirements are applicable as to Participating Video Recorders and Participating Video Players manufactured after December 31, 2013 (except insofar as such products are handling content in the CPRM for DVD-VR format).

The effect of these changes is that CPRM technology (again except for the CPRM for DVD-VR format) will be authorized as a Managed Copy Output Technology for AACS Content and will be able to be authorized for use with other content protection regimes that implement a requirement prohibiting the use of analog video outputs for content being output from products manufactured after December 31, 2013.

The 4C Entity, LLC is pleased to announce that (1) the CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card Book, SD-SD Part, Revision 0.94 and (2) the CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card Book, SD-SD eBook Part, Revision 0.91 are now available.

The specification (1) has incorporated a modification of storing 128-bit User Keys in the SD Memory Card and a clarification on updating MKB using MKB Extension and MKB Update.

The specification (2) has incorporated output control information for possible use of audio-visual outputs for SD-SD eBook content, including analog video output and unprotected digital video outputs.

These documents replace those that were previously withdrawn. These specifications are licensed pursuant to a special license addendum to the main CPRM/CPPM License Agreement that must be completed before the technologies in the specifications may be implemented.

February 24, 2011 - IMPORTANT NOTICE

DO NOT USE SD-SD SPECIFICATION COMMON BOOK REVISION 0.93 OR EBOOK PROFILE REVISION 0.90.

Due to a significant issue that has been identified in two recently adopted specification documents, 4C has withdrawn the following specification book versions:

  1. CPRM Specification: SD Memory Card Book, SD-Separate Delivery Part (SD-SD), Revision 0.93, December 21, 2010.
  2. CPRM Specification: SD Memory Card Book SD-SD eBook Profile Part, Revision 0.90, December 20, 2010.

Such documents should not be used to implement the SD-SD technology. The eBook and AES Extension functionalities will be incorporated into modified documents as CPRM Specification, SD Memory Card Book: SD-Separate Delivery Part (SD-SD), Revision 0.94 and CPRM Specification:SD Memory Card Book SD-SD eBook Profile Part, Revision 0.91, which may be used once they have been posted on the 4C website.
