Cleared SCWCD 5.0 -- 94%

Finally I have got the chance to post new topic on the forum.I cleared exam yesterday with 94% but sorry for this late posting of the topic.Thanks to all the members of Javaranch who provided all their and guidance, which made it possible for me to come out with this result.
I thought of sharing my experience with all of you so that it can help those who are aspiring for the same.

Frankly speaking, I thought of appearing for this exam one year back and even purchased the voucher in July,2007.I read the Head First Book once last year itself but could not maintain the momentum.Finally when i found the voucher expiry date approaching, i put my best effort to appear for the exam.


Initially I was shocked to see that SCWCD1.4 has already been outdated
. But, finally i somehow gathered the courage to prepare with guidance from Javaranch.Then, i found one of the posts specifying about the failure in the exam, but thanks to him and all others including Bryan basham and Sammeta kumar who guided us in difficult phase.


Coming to the point, This is how i prepared for the exam :
1.) Read Head First 1.4 twice
2.) Read Servlet and JSP specifications once.
3.) When i heard of SCWCD 5.0, I got Head First 2nd Edition and read it again.(Few topics are added,questions at the end of chapter and book are modified,errors fixed)
4.) Prepared notes of all that I tend to forget most of the times.
5.) Tried to remember as my APIs(methods)as possible at different point of times.
6.) I took Marcus Green online Tutorial.
7.) Took Marcus Green 3 Mock Exams.(Scored 95 on average)
8.) Took Whizlab4 mock tests (scored around 80 on average)
9.) Took Enthuware mock Tests (scored between around 80 on average)
10.)Used Marc Peabody J2EE patterns notes.
11.)I couldnt get time to take the HFSJ test, so I just went through explanation.
12.)All I can say is that all these mock exams really helped me a lot after making the HFSJ as the base.

Finally, honestly speaking when i appeared for the exam, I felt it is not very tough,infact easier than what i had expected.Thanks to one and all.But still I feel that exam made me realise that I have to still work more on JSTL and Custom Tag. I hope it may be helpful to you all.
Sorry Marc I attempted 1 question from patterns wrong, which should not be the case generally.

Unfortunately, it's quite common to miss a question or two on patterns if you use mock exams. I've seen a lot of screwed up questions from them and I think some of the questions only confuse the topic. In fact, they are why I wrote my notes.

Thanks dear... Yeah you can get the Marcus green from same examulator site... and Whizlab is not freely available... For other useful notes and material just leave me a mail...

Apart from all that One very important i forgot to share with you is that please dont go for the JavaBeat material.
I would like to share this experience of mine with all of you. I purchased JavaBeat's mock exam for preparation for just Rs. 250/-. Although the amount is not big, but when i started taking the mock exam...3-4 days before actual exam, i found that this exam left me in confusion and shattered my confidence for that time.You will find number of errors in questions, answers and explanations.I called up the people associated with JavaBeat , but i got very pathetic response from them.He was not ready to say anything, he just told that we are rectifying these errors and without listening to me any further, he hanged up the phone....Frankly speaking we should not encourage such people at all javascript: x()

We do not support the illegal sharing of materials here. Many mocks (including Enthuware) are not free, and if by "dumps" you mean real exam questions, anyone sharing these materials will be in breach of the Sun Exam Candidate agreement. We will not help you cheat.

On a similar note, you cannot obtain an e-book/PDF of my book for the sad but very realistic reason that this type of file sharing is rife. Thank you for showing interest, but electronic copies are safely locked away... Instead you have to buy the paperback either new from your local bookshop or second hand off of someone else. There are links to the (considerably cheap) Asian edition in my signature.
