Hello,
I was offered to do a course that gives the chance to take the 1Z0-897 for free. However I don't have any Oracle certification and I've seen in the site that you need "Oracle or Sun Certified Java Programmer (Professional) any version or Oracle or Sun certified Java Enterprise Architect Master any version".
Could I take the 1Z0-897 exam despite not having it and, in case I pass, take the other exam to have the certification?

Well, I wouldn't say so. Oracle says that the order is not important, and in my opinion, that would imply that you will receive two certificates as soon as you pass the OCPJP exam.

Oh, thanks. Do you know if there's a time limit for that?
In any case I sent a mail to Oracle through the link you provided, but they didn't answer yet.

They said that to get the certification is necessary to have the previous one. But they didn't say anything about not being able to do the exam.

I just had a chat with Oracle myself to find out the details:
1) The order of exams is not important
2) You can request both certifcates (hardcopies) after you pass the last one (in this case OCPJP)
