- 2$\begingroup$ I think that the term "batch GD" is sometimes used to refer to "mini-batch GD" and that "stochastic GD" may actually refer to "mini-batch GD". I think people should take context into account because others may be using these terms inconsistently (this is my impression). $\endgroup$nbro– nbro2021-07-31 19:57:30 +00:00Commented Jul 31, 2021 at 19:57
- $\begingroup$ @Yahya, when you say for 'batch GD' that 'we take the average of all the training data...' you specifically mean that from the total aggregate loss on all independent training samples which is then backpropagated, you take the average across all the data to make that single update to the parameters from a single derivative of the model params. Is that correct? Can you also please include in your answer the analogous description for how this is similarly done in Mini-batch. $\endgroup$Vass– Vass2023-01-31 02:47:06 +00:00Commented Jan 31, 2023 at 2:47

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. neural-networks), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
