- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2025This is an excellent controller. Though it’s expensive, if you see yourself using all of its features, I think it’s definitely worth it.
I was skeptical that I would like the dynamic trigger functionality. It seemed like a gimmick at first. But I was surprised it actually helped me with gameplay. When you’re playing a game with guns for instance you can set it to be like a trigger. It was pretty cool and helped immersion, but also made it very clear when the threshold to actually fire was as you pulled down on it. For driving games where the triggers are the accelerators and brakes, adding friction and force to the triggers, made it way easier to find tune how much you pulled them.
The extra shoulder buttons are also unexpectedly useful. Personally, I use them for turbo-ing the up and down buttons on the D pad, which makes scrolling through menus much faster. They repositioned the buttons on the back where your middle and ring fingers go and they feel much better than the Vader pro 4 which I was using previously.
The gyroscopic aim is excellent: very precise with a good acceleration curve. The analytics are probably the best I’ve ever used, especially when you adjust the curves to your gameplay style. You can get a lot of precision out of them while still being able to do massive swings. I usually set the sensitivity and gain to the max. The tension adjustment is very good as well. I have it set to a higher amount of tension so that I can still get the precision I need at very small movements.
It’s a very good all-around controller and I haven’t found a game where it doesn’t excel and actually improve my skill.
I don’t use an animation on the screen because I find it distracting, but it’s super useful to have a manual on the controller itself so you can switch to different profiles and connect to a different device devices without having to navigate the device devices themselves or use the software.
The new software they made to go along with Controller is also a huge upgrade compared to the previous version. The menus are way easier to use. They cleaned up some of the translation from Chinese so it makes more sense. It performs a lot better and it’s generally just a pleasure to use.
I ordered this one with the dock as well and though I don’t use the screen because again, I think it’s distracting. It fits way better than the Vader Pro 4 fit on its dock.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2026This is honestly the Rolls Royce of PC controllers. I got it a couple of months ago and it has seen some serious gaming. The sticks work like they did right out of the box, and the adaptive triggers give a Dualsense feel to them. It’s easy to connect and the battery last for days at a time. It is a little pricey but it’s very much worth it. Also I wish it was compatible with an Xbox for those games that I just don’t feel like buying again
- Reviewed in the United States on November 14, 2025Controller continuously disconnects from my pc during gaming. It will run good for about 2 minutes then the controller vibration will get stuck on and it wont accept any inputs until I turn off and back on the controller. It's really sad the quality of this controller is amazing but I'm only able to use it wired which defeats the purpose of me buying this pos. I've tried both bluetooth and using the dongle neither will keep the controller connected.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2026Excellent controller, battery life is great, feels excellent in hand. I've tried others like the GameSir G7 Pro and was turned off by how cramped they felt, this actually feels like it's sized for an adult's hand.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2025This controller is interesting. It's kind of hard to tell exactly what it is trying to be. On one hand it has some qualities of competitive controllers, not the best in that regard though. It also has abilities in immersion, not the best in that regard either. The reason this strikes me as odd is because of all the features this has, that makes the controller so expensive, and what exactly is supposed justify the price to the consumer? Who is the target market? Esports? No. Immersive games? Maybe? What I'm trying to get at here is that I think Flydigi is inevitably going to face a problem of expectations. I would recommend deciding what exactly this controller is intended to do and go with that, and so far they seem to be doing a pretty good job in the immersion department, and the reason I say that is because almost no one else is competing in that respect anyways. Your options outside of a Dualsense is only a Beitong KP70, or a Flydigi Apex, and that's it. Personally I think Flydigi should lean into this completely untapped market since they are already fine with having multiple "tiers" of the same generation of controller for different purposes from the cheap Dunefox all the way up to an Apex.
Pros:
So what are the pros, what qualities are there that I think makes the controller worth having? Well for one thing, all information I can find online suggests the onboard latency is competitive, combine this with the quite good polling rate, and you have a controller that is superior in wireless quality to a Dualsense Edge, a more expensive first party controller. Moving on we have bumper quality, for Xbox layout controllers I would say this is a big one that most people and brands don't talk about but really affects the quality and feel of the controller- no one wants cheap plastic feeling bumpers that "pop" in a very unsatisfying way, that is too loud, and feels like it's hinge is going to break every time you press them from the far end, but I can say this is one of the best feeling bumpers out there. Same goes for the extra bumpers too, they feel amazingly sturdy. The triggers also don't have that "mismatch" problem of always being slightly asymmetrical in their resistance and feel, and they feel very smooth. The face buttons take almost no force to press if you're into that sort of thing, and the D-pad is also raised quite high and has membrane dampening to avoid that "cheap third party * pro* controller" D-pad feel, which makes platforming and fighting games great on this D-pad, genuinely one of the best. And here's one of my favorite things about this controller, their adaptive triggers, because of the onboard screen that let's you change settings very simply, can also allow you to use adaptive triggers in certain customized ways regardless of whether or not Flydigi's space station app has support for the game you're playing. So if you emulate an old racing game for example, you can use the racing preset for the triggers to have gas and brake pedal resistance, it is wonderful, and the sniper preset is great in any game that primarily uses semi automatic weapons or honestly just in general because it's so satisfying. In some titles that don't have Flydigi support, you can turn on dualsense mode. This turns off all of the extra bells and whistles, no back buttons or extra bumpers, because now the Apex 5 functions as a Dualsense controller, which let's you tap into Sony's proprietary adaptive trigger support. So you have three options to choose from for adaptive triggers depending on what is available and what you want. The controller is even capable of emulating trigger stops by cranking up the adaptive triggers to a high strength, and yes this is intended it won't break anything, really cool stuff here.
Cons:
Now what are the cons? It might seem like there can't possibly be any, but there are. Firstly the D-pad is unfathomably loud, not in a cheap rattling loud kind of way, the microswitches just click very loudly. Which is really odd considering the membrane dampening I mentioned, they should be much more quiet than they are, so they *feel* quiet- but they don't sound quiet. So if you played silksong on this controller, you'd have to get ready to put headphones on to spare you the noise. Speaking of clicking, I despise these face buttons. They feel like optical microswitches even though they are normal microswitches, if that makes any sense. By which I mean that their actuation force is incredibly small, so if you have headphones on, you can misclick these buttons and never know because they have almost no tactile feedback whatsoever due to their actuation force being so low, this is the worst thing about this controller I would say. Also the buttons are tiny, I'm not sure what is Flydigi's obsession is with making the tiniest face buttons possible, but this is one of these weird identity quirks I mentioned before, these things become more obvious when they play off of each other in a bad way, the adaptive triggers feeling so good makes these awkward face buttons and D-pad noise stand out, but these two things are clearly for performance, And unfortunately yes there is a con for the adaptive triggers, the support has to be manually created by Flydigi themselves, so even some popular titles will have no support, so you would need to use onboard adaptive presets. Not only that, but some of the presets are sort of broken, as in only part of the function will actually work. Here is an example, in Marvel's Spider-Man, the Apex 5 is supposed to have it's sniper trigger, and then a recoil trigger at the bottom that times it's recoil to Peter's footsteps whenever you are sprinting, however this breaks and does a very odd movement that feels like the triggers are malfunctioning, but if you make Peter sprint up a wall instead of sprinting on the ground, then it works as intended. So in short you can expect some Chinese third party jank from the adaptive trigger support. Honestly I don't think this is a big deal, the tech isn't very standardized so it's amazing that this even exists outside of Dualsense controllers.
Combined thoughts:
This is where things get complicated, because to remedy these issues in their design, they would first need to establish what exactly the controller is even supposed to be. For example, to make better face buttons one would have to establish- "is this is meant to be an esports controller?" so, is the short actuation distance actually important? If so, then the options to improve become limited to certain performance related things, but if it isn't an esports controller then the options are more open. However you can't have both, since sacrifices have to be made on either side in order to make a controller that is good enough at either thing to justify a 150-200 dollar price tag.
This has just too many unrelated things to be a performance controller, first of all because of all of it's back buttons and onboard software and screen, it's adaptive triggers and perhaps adjustable sticks as well. And some of these auxiliaries introduce latency as well, simply put- how this is designed from the ground up, it won't ever be a performance controller, so i don't think there's much for them to lean into there, the low stick latency and high polling rate is good enough to be better than almost anything first party, so I think Flydigi is done here.
Instead they could do something much more interesting I think, by leaning into their current face buttons that don't have much tactile feedback, and then introduce a similar technology to the steam deck's touch pad's haptic feedback, which would pair nicely with the already existing adaptive triggers, and perhaps introduce voice coil motors for which the Apex 5 currently doesn't have, then they would be leaning into a really high end immersive controller that I would definitely buy, and mind you such a thing doesn't even exist yet.
Two final closing thoughts, firstly because of how the lever adjustable sticks are constructed, if you drop this controller, you are cooked, the controller is done for. Secondly, you can calibrate the gyro and sticks and triggers, you hold the select and start buttons and up on the D-pad, this isn't in the manual for some unknown reason, you keep the controller flat on a desk, rotate the sticks & pull the triggers, and you repeat the same button prompt again to finish the calibration.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2026This is my favorite controller! It's very responsive and tactile. The joysticks are smooth. It feels comfortable in my hand, almost like it was made for it. Love the back programable buttons and two stage trigger.
This remote is worth it. It feels strong and like it's built to last. I've had it a few months and no issues at all. I add add joysticks thumb extenders, but that's my personal preference.
