- 1I tried removing the return input, and adding in the delays. I also tried the delays at 0.5 just to be thorough. Unfortunately, this had zero impact on my originally reported behavior, aside from the fact that it was a little slower when successfully running it from Automator or the services menu. I also copied and pasted your code block directly into Automator and it still didn't work. This works in every circumstance EXCEPT the keyboard shortcut, but the shortcut DOES result in a cogwheel in the menu, indicating the script is running, plus I get a notification I added as a second step >.>jtacq– jtacq2020-04-23 21:11:07 +00:00Commented Apr 23, 2020 at 21:11
- Ok, actually, after giving this some "time" (I hate problems like this)... it seems to be working now, having copied your code directly into mine.jtacq– jtacq2020-04-23 21:16:54 +00:00Commented Apr 23, 2020 at 21:16
- Actually, it only works sometimes... and it doesn't appear to be related to frequency. So, I'm now at a complete loss. Now, sometimes it's adding an 'r' character to the cell I have selected.jtacq– jtacq2020-04-23 21:20:07 +00:00Commented Apr 23, 2020 at 21:20
- @jtacq You could try editing the shortcuts at Google Sheets (Command+/) and using another combination. The default keys for this action is command+option+shift+= but apparently you will still need two steps.Mateus Ribeiro– Mateus Ribeiro2020-04-25 03:15:43 +00:00Commented Apr 25, 2020 at 3:15
- Yeah, when you think about those 2 (awkward) steps in the context of adding 5-10 rows it rapidly becomes a finger traffic jam. Since the key to add a row about is "r", you could remap it to command+option+shift+r, but then you are still stuck with the very awkward action of pressing and releasing command+option+shift alternately. This isn't very repeatable without error.jtacq– jtacq2020-04-27 13:08:39 +00:00Commented Apr 27, 2020 at 13:08

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. macbook-pro), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
