i have powered the esp module with 3.3 volt of arduino itself. i too used to get the error always untill i changed my settings to "no line ending" at the bottom of the serial monitor. i had kept it to "NL & CR" from other answers that i read in stack, and that was the reason for errors i suppose. anyway changing it gave me the AT OK. try that
