This Privacy Policy explains how the Canine open source project ("Canine", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Canine platform at canine.sh and any related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you sign up via a third-party OAuth provider (GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket), we receive basic profile information from that provider in accordance with the permissions you grant.
To deploy applications on your behalf, we store the kubeconfig credentials and connection details for Kubernetes clusters you connect to the Service. This data is encrypted at rest and is never shared with third parties except as required to operate the Service.
We store information about the projects, services, environment variables, build configurations, and deployment history associated with your account. Environment variables and secrets are encrypted at rest.
We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, actions performed, and timestamps. This helps us understand how the Service is used and how to improve it.
We automatically collect technical information when you access the Service, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URLs, and device identifiers. This information is used for security, fraud prevention, and service reliability purposes.
If you contact us by email or through the Service, we retain those communications to respond to your inquiry and to improve our support quality.

We use third-party analytics tools including Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how users interact with the Service. These tools may use cookies and similar tracking technologies. The data collected is aggregated and used to improve the Service. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and support security features. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies, though some features of the Service may not function correctly without them.
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in the following circumstances:
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention or dispute resolution. Deployment logs and build artifacts may be retained for a shorter period in accordance with our standard data lifecycle policies.
We take the security of your data seriously. We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for sensitive data (kubeconfig credentials, environment variables, secrets), and access controls to limit who within Canine can access your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service at your own risk.
