    \$\begingroup\$ @micsthepick Good question. You can use str for backticks as M=eval(str([[0]*3]*4)). Or, M=[3*[0]for _ in[0]*4] which is the same length. Maybe there's better. \$\endgroup\$ Commented Aug 5, 2015 at 23:19
