Hey everyone!
I passed the Programmer Certification last week with 86% and now I am trying to figure out what to work on next. I have had no Java knowledge until I started studying 3 months ago. What kind of certification is realistically attainable within another 3-4 months of study? Architect? or Developer? Which is more coveted? And which one has more free/purchases resources?
One head hunter tells me that knoweledge of J2EE is definitly an asset, but I'm not sure which exam that is pointing me to.
Please keep in line that any code that I will be writing will have to be done on my single computer (windows 98) at home. I have no network with which to experiment.
Thanks in advance
Dan

Hi, Dan, first congratulations to your passing of the test.
As i also passed the test recently, i am also thinking of the next step. I think it will be worthwhile to take a certificate concerning J2EE. The one in my mind now is "Bea Weblogic Server 6.0 Developer Certification Test", you can get more info from
<code> http://education.bea.com/education/certification_program.jsp
</code>
As to do some test about those technology, it will have no problem even if your computer is offline. You can test all these technologies in your own PC at home as long as you set up all necessary servers and database in your PC.
Regards,
Guoqiao

Dan,
It seems you are only interested in Certifications that you can achieve somehow in 3-4 months. Be careful, You will have bagsfull of certifications and no expertise at all. In such case, the certificates would mean nothing but useless papers.

Hi Dan,
Congratulations!
If you are looking at getting some knowledge on J2EE, you can follow the Jcert Initiative.Alternatively you can follow the track by Sun.
Also, try to get some real experience also while preparing for the tests.
Hope this helps,
