Hi,
Java ranch keeps track of the number of posts a user did. I feel it should also keeps track of the number of posts a user read. which is useful for people like me who most of the time reads all the posts.

And how do we know that you actually read them? Huh? Maybe you just clicked the link to drive up your totals!
Anyway, forums live by people posting, not reading. Reading a post is of trivial importance compared to posting. Personally, I barely read any posts and I never read any posts that I am responding to!

I dont agree with ur "forums live by people posting, not reading." . I feel there are lot of readers to a post than the no of people participating in it. This way reading of discussions should be encouraged. Many people who frequently visit java ranch for the information to read than to participate. Also many people dont want to respond to a post.

Actually, since you have no idea how many people actually read the thread, the number of "readers" merely tells how interesting the thread title is.

I read more than I post and I really learned a lot of stuff here at JavaRanch 
. Still, counting the number of posts read doesn't seem very practical. I don't see the need for an incentive for people to read more.
