Applying patch in java web application

I have web application deployed in tomcat.
I need to provide way to apply patches(bug fixes) by just copying the patched jar files in some patch folder.
How to override the loading of regular WEB-INF/lib jar file with the CATALINAHOME/patch jar file?

It makes no sense to fiddle with a patch folder, just stop the application, replace the jar files directly and restart the application.

The Tomcat management app has simple commands to start and stop applications.

Actually our product is deployed using tomcat and customer is directly using it.
So it would be tough and confusing for user to navigate through the webapp directory structure and apply the patch.

Are you saying that the users are creating patches for the software supplied by your company? That's rather an unusual way of doing things, isn't it?
