How to get cows ?

Hello there, I want cows :P many bartenders and the sheriffs like sir Henry have cows. I was wondering how to get them. I believe getting cows here is better than passing oracle java certifications. I am sure about thing, just asking for help and not trying to help others on technical problems is not gonna buy me any cows. I am very weak at programming for the time being , I try to work hard to develop my logical skills. thanks for reading this message.

And I guess what goes without saying is that we've got to be nice ( polite and civil ) also.

Yup. Cows are granted by the various moderators for posts we find exceptionally helpful. Kind of like the 'thumbs up' we have, but more so.

They're still kind of new, and we're still playing around with how/when/why to grant them.

But careful you don't turn into a "Cow Junkie" like me. It's a slippery slope......

My colleague just shakes his head in despair every time I tell him with great enthusiasm that I got a new cow.

At the top of (i think) every page, you can go to "My Profile". From there, you'll find a link to "My public profile". Near the bottom left of THAT page, is a link to "Cows Granted To This User". That will show you who gave you your cows, and what posts they are for.

I am not able to see any on my profile Fred. May be I have not earned any cows so far? Of course, it has been quite a long time I have visited Ranch.

This shows you what posts you got cows for, but not by whom they were granted.

Only moderators can see all the information. But it's always possible to mention in a post if you granted a cow to someone, so they'll know where it came from.

As a matter of fact, it's certainly possible to get cows for doing things other than answering technical questions, as this topic shows.
