Hey Josh.
I knew your book is awesome I read some examples there and I see you every where in stackoverflow.
I planned to buy the 2nd edition but I read that the 3rd will come soon, so I waited till the 3rd is out.

My question is : Is it enough to read only the 3d edition or the others too have other details that I should check them out ? (1st and 2nd)
thanks again

As someone with all three editions in their library, I can tell you that I'd consider each new edition a replacement for the previous. All the good advice is carried over.

I have read first two editions , though i have borrowed and read couple of chapters of 3rd edition
i am yet to complete it.
My opinion, you can still continue to refer back to old editions for specific topics pertaining to the java version covered
in the book and not carried into the 3rd edition.

Thanks

I'm in complete agreement with Tim. There's no reason to get Edition n of Effective Java if you have edition n + 1. By induction, that means you need at most one copy of Effective Java.

Now I am super curious what sports would be like if we allowed drugs and tiny ads.
