Hi all,

I would like to bounce something off you guys.

In my Mobile App, I have a lot of Activity and Fragment classes and many of them contain a method or two with code for uploading images to a WebAPI 2.0 web service etc. etc. Sorry, just for info.

Now, I thought about creating a new class (e.g. ServiceController) and then move all the Service Calls to this new class. The problem is, each one for the methods contain code for displaying a ProgressBar and hiding a ProgressBar, and let the activity continue to a next one, etc. etc.

Now, is it good practice to pass an instance of the Activity that is calling the method in the ServiceController to the method in the ServiceController and then for instance do this:

public static void uploadImages(Activity activity) { new BaseAsyncTask() { ... ... activity.hideProgressBar(); ... }

PS: Specifically the "activity.hideProgressBar();" above.

Nice to see you guys are all doing well!

To add to some of your posts; I am also extremely disappointed with Oracle regarding the fact that we who received our certifications before 01 September still have the old title - and I even emailed them and asked them if they would mind issuing it to me with the new title, but no-go - and this after all the months of licking ** to get the assignments graded; but anyway there is nothing we can do about it except re-skill.

Also just a big thank you to everyone for the help while doing the SCJD assignment!!

I received a response from Oracle on Thursday - no percentages or breakdown though, but I'm still thankfull and happy!

Just for info: I completed my assignment and essay exam on 27 April.

I actually received an email stating that they've passed my assignment on for grading, so I am sure they must've found my essay exam.

Ps: Sorry Roberto, I forgot completely to answer you on the soccer. I actually enjoyed the last game of South Africa, but personally I support both Portugal and Brazil, so I have a problem - both are playing on the 25th :-)

Thanks for the replies, and sorry for only replying now!

Carlos,
- yes they did send me a reply acknowledging that they received my jar.
- I did include my Prometric ID in the email I've sent with the JAR file, and I even renamed my JAR file to "sr-my-id.jar".
- The Prometric ID is the same, I have even emailed them a scan of the page they gave me at the Prometric test center.

I have used this email address for the submission of the JAR file: [email protected].

The problem was that they did not receive my essay exam from Prometric.

I am emailing them once a week on: [email protected] and [email protected].

Do you guys track the marking process via: http://www.certmanager.net/sun

I ran this an all ok.
I have the "Bodgitt & Scarper 2.1.2" assignment; and even though is says that my DB class is assignable; I'm still worried because I did not implement DB, but implemented an interface that extends DB; is that really OK?

Sorry I'm just fricken nervous too, because I'm doing the essay exam tomorrow

Hi guys,

I have extended the provided interface from Sun. "DBMain extends DB " (in the Bodgitt & Scarper assignment).

Where else do I have to document this fact?

I have entered it into the "choices.txt" file, and of course mentioned it in the JavaDoc of my DBMain too.

I don't want the guys marking my project to miss this otherwise it is an automatic failure.

I have the following entries:

From the server:
- Path to database file
- Port number

From the Standalone client:
- Path to the database file

From the Networked client:
- Location / Host name
- Port Number

Ps: The reason I am keeping separate paths for the different GUIs is purely because I feel that the Server and Clients might run on different machines with different paths. This could probably be debated whether it is necessary, but anyway...
