I dont have much exp with tomcat, are u sure tomcat is an app server ? To my knowledge it is not.
Check out the documentation for connection pooling, I am sure u will get some pointers. Documentation of weblogic is pretty good, but again it is for weblogic.

Putting in other words, Jason, what you are saying is, even though a H1-B candidate is on status, just scrap his visa, and send him out of the country. Is this what you are trying to say ? If so, I am sorry at your state of mind. I can understand that the present situation is making you depressed but please for God sake be sane and think decently. As Kalpana said somewhere in this thread, it is absolutely absurd to say that all H1 should go, even though they have a status.

If you are using an app server like WebSphere or Weblogic, they will have an inbiult facility of DB connection pooling. Check up with yoour app server decumentation.
If you are going for a regular web-server, which is not an ideal situation, you can write your own Connection Pooling class here is one example form sun connection pooling

Hi,
I am a bit confused over what is being Thread Safe.
Suppose I have a multi threaded program accessing a Hashtable, when thread A is accessing the hashtable, thread B can also access it and corrupt the data. Is this what is called not being Thread Safe ??
If I make the hashtable synchronized, that makes it Thread Safe, am I right ??

I suggest everybody to watch 'PUSHPAK'. This is an Indian movie but cannot be associated with one language as it dose not have any dialogs. Everything is conveyed thru expressions. It is really worth watching it.

The enterprise bean must not attempt to manage threads. The enterprise bean must not attempt
to start, stop, suspend, or resume a thread; or to change a thread�s priority or name. The enterprise bean must not attempt to manage thread groups.
These functions are reserved for the EJB Container. Allowing the enterprise bean to manage threads would decrease the Container�s ability to properly manage the runtime environment.
It says that thread management can be done but not advisable as it will decrese the efficiency of the app server.

Not sure about this, why dont u try JTA. Using transactions u can put a bunch of JDBC code in a block. It is either execute all or execute none situation. I mean to say if there are three statements, 2 are executed and 1 fails to execute, then the other 2 gets rolledback automatically.
