While the interpreter usually gets it right, it can be more difficult for users to read the code and for somebody else (like "future you") to maintain the code, as intentions can be murky. (It also messes with syntax-highlighters, though that's more pragmatic than anything else.) Some feel that variable names should be somewhat self-declarative, which means single-letter variables may be less useful (I occasionally use them as well). | |
