I'm surprised one has mentionnot mentioned this, as it seems fairly obvious: kaggle.comhttp://www.kaggle.com consistently has new and very interesting datasets. Information is considered an asset, so often companies don't want to release that data (plus privacy concerns). Kaggle gives you data and they hope you solve business problems in with it in exchange.
