- A good point, and this would only be providing I am taking DIFF backups on the primary, yes? It would also be true then that trans logs will not be truncating the log? I guess the DBA should know this is occurring as they have set their backup preference to secondary.Kingithy– Kingithy2016-07-14 22:48:10 +00:00Commented Jul 14, 2016 at 22:48
- Correct, DIFFs must be taken on the primary. Transaction log backups, whether taken on the primary or secondary will attempt to truncate. whether or not this will happen depends on many things.Sean Gallardy– Sean Gallardy2016-07-15 00:19:38 +00:00Commented Jul 15, 2016 at 0:19

- @SeanGallardy-Microsoft Thank you. For me, I've had a ton of the msdn give me the "yellow screen of death" - would I be able to fix those by just changing the host from "msdn." to "docs." ?Jaans– Jaans2018-04-01 00:30:48 +00:00Commented Apr 1, 2018 at 0:30

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. sql-server), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
