I spent a lot of time helping a user with a final project, giving them an obvious advantage. However, it is not always easy to differentiate solving homework problem and assisting when the user shows they did some work and are struggling.

A group of dedicated users could link to undesirable homework answers to coordinate downvotes (you could also add a feed for all questions tagged [homework] to help close such questions and/or downvote answers, if necessary).

| Mar 19, 2021 at 13:26 | comment | added | Peter Smith | There are, to me, two types of HW question, in general. There is the 'I want to know the answer to X' and my response is usually to comment something like 'what have you already done / tried' and then there is the type of question where someone really is having a problem that they cannot figure out, but they can show they have tried. In those, I will try to explain where they may have taken a misstep. For the first type, if no change is made within a reasonable time, I will vote to close. Where an answer was given I might comment that an answer is not appropriate. | |
