We have had some rain - enough for now. I will be more than pleased if it
waits now until after our graduation celebration....
Yardwork hasn't always been a priority for us - oh yes we have always mowed the
grass but until a few years ago I only tried a few small flower gardens.
I now have a perennial flower garden which seems to expand each year - I have
tried wildflowers with not more than 1-2 years of success. I currently have
some of the grandparents' peonies that I am babying to grow... and have
some calla lilies from a great aunt to get planted...
The peonies are getting taller - they have flowered each year with at least
one bud so hopefully this year we get more.
There is a lot of green popping up all over - in the beginning I had to have a
map to keep track of all my plants.... and then I became delinquent in
keeping track of what went where.... so this plant seems to be where the "honeysuckle"
plant usually grows...we will see... then again it doesn't look right to be the honeysuckle...
it doesn't really matter - as long as it grows, flowers and isn't a weed.
The flowering crab (blossom tree) is getting bigger buds.... this tree
isn't doing very well - last year the main trunk portion at the top of
the tree was dead and now more branches are dead - although it is
covered with buds....
My attempt to having "creeping phlox" creeping by the driveway
is about the same - it seems like the plants I put there several
years ago don't seem to get any larger and I only see a couple
others starting - they will survive only if Hubby and the
lawnmower don't find them... These phlox came with us
from our first home fifteen years ago...
I am hoping that these gems - there are thousands of them - I am
hoping that they wait until Memorial Day - they open up and let all
the green pollen escape from them -- covering everything with pollen
and making many folks miserable.
And these yellow beauties will hopefully meet their demise
in the next day or so - our yard (not a fancy yard - but a yard
none the less) have been covered with the dandelions - tonight
Hubby sprayed them - we will see what happens...
Say goodbye - lil' yellow fella!
