Oct 18, 2014 at 4:11 comment added user109879 There's some black magic there. It's not true in general that $\sqrt{a}\sqrt{b} = \sqrt{ab}$, unless you select a branch. For example, you could do $-1 = \sqrt{-1}\sqrt{-1} = \sqrt{1} = 1$ if you are not careful.
