It's not that the users here are conservative or commentophiles (obviously not a real word) it's only that some people believe (and can provide examples) where a standard purge would cause harm. This is why George is asking this question, to try to get suggestions that everyone can agree on. | |

But until someone spends a week as a moderator, it's hard to show them the sheer number of problems there are with the "screw it, keep comments around." approach. I kind of wish everyone could be a moderator for a day, just so they'd get an inkling of what we're dealing with. | |
