| Jan 27, 2021 at 22:38 | comment | added | Ben Kelly StaffMod | Thanks for the report! Believe it or not, I got the code in to support this just the other day for another dev. They have a fix in their branch, along with other features, but I can get a dedicated fix out for this independently. | |
| Jan 27, 2021 at 10:39 | comment | added | VLAZ | Just to be clear, the first issue I mentioned is that I never actually get a Discard button. So, the text just stays there. I've even occasionally deleted it manually (Ctrl+A -> Delete) only to have it show up again when I open the page again. That last one might have been fixed for a while, I don't think I've seen it within the last year, at least. What you describe is Discard being there and not working. I've not experienced this but I just wonder if it's not an old bug. In either case it probably should be fixed, of course. | |

Regarding the first issue (which is what this bug report is about), I've never experienced it with the old editor. As long as the "Discard" button is visible, clicking it always cleared the text for me. | |
| Jan 27, 2021 at 10:31 | comment | added | VLAZ | I wonder if this is a new bug at all. I've seen many inconsistent behaviours with drafts. Sometimes I copy some part of a post in the answer box as a "staging ground" to format it before making an edit or just to experiment (e.g., a stack snippet). I don't intend to post that as an answer but I sometimes find I'm unable to discard. Other times I've started writing an answer I intend to finish later on a different computer but re-visiting the same answer doesn't bring up the draft. I wouldn't be surprised if this is an old bug. | |
